My life is getting increasingly hectic. To cope, I’m looking for every way possible to automate my work through process innovation.
One way I’m doing this is to create templates for routine tasks in my life. For example, I do a good bit of reviewing for academic journals in my field. Since my reviews typically have the same structure, I’m making a word doc that is for the most part, fill in the blank. That way, I’m not starting each review from a blank slate.
Next, I’m starting to go back through my previous reviews to create a list of my frequently offered suggestions, critiques and references. I plan to do a better job of capturing and organizing these elements in 2017.
I wish I had done this years ago. Might have been more productive.
